Job Description

As part of a National Science Foundation funded International Research Experience for Students, we are seeking both undergraduate and graduate student candidates for a 6 week research experience at either the University of Alberta (with Dr. Bipro Dhar) or Toronto Metropolitan University (with Dr. Elsayed Elbeshbishy). Students will be part of a small cohort performing summer research. A stipend ($5,000) and food allowance ($1,500) will be provided and all travel and housing costs will be provided.

Potential research topics include

  • Microbiological processes/key players in direct interspecies electron transfer in Anaerobic Digestion (AD)
  • Potential impacts of micro/nanoplastics and antibiotic resistance genes on AD sludge
  • Microbiomes responsible for the performance of AD under chemical stressors
  • Electro-assisted AD for bioproduct recovery...
