Org. Setting and Reporting

Under the direct supervision of the Legal Officer and the overall supervision of the Chief of the Division, the Assistant Legal Officer will support the discharging of secretariat functions of the Regional Agreement on Access to Information, Public Participation and Justice in Environmental Matters in Latin America and the Caribbean and be responsible for the following duties:

• Conducts legal research on a diverse range of assigned issues in international, environmental and human rights law and other area(s) of specialization using multiple research sources; selects relevant material, analyzes information and presents findings for internal review.
• Assists in the review of legal documents, instruments, or other material; identifies important issues, similarities and inconsistencies, etc.
