Position Overview

The Department of Geography at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador invites applications for the Canada Impact+ Research Chair in Critical Minerals and Energy Transition: Political Ecology and Social Sustainability. The Chair will direct a leading interdisciplinary research program that addresses the political, social, and justice dimensions of critical mineral extraction and processing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead an internationally recognized research program focused on critical mineral development and transition challenges.
  • Oversee graduate training, knowledge mobilisation, and collaborations across the university.
  • Support the nascent MUN Minerals research and teaching strategy and contribute to Memorial’s strategic research themes of Sustaining People, Sustaining Place, and Sustaining Economy.
