The Word On The Street Toronto is Canada’s largest free outdoor book and magazine festival, celebrating storytelling, literacy, and ideas through programming that engages readers of all ages. Each year, more than 130,000 visitors attend the festival to experience author talks, performances, workshops, marketplace exhibitors, and community activations in the heart of downtown Toronto at David Pecaut Square. The 2026 festival will take place on September 26–27, 2026.

For over 35 years, The Word On The Street has connected audiences with Canadian and Indigenous authors, publishers, booksellers, artists, and cultural organizations while championing literacy, accessibility, and diverse voices.
