Job Overview

A full-time family practice position is available in the East Kootenays. The successful candidate will have their own patient panel and provide longitudinal care. In addition, they will share responsibility for coverage at the Sparwood Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

The Emergency Department is staffed with emergency trained RNs supported by a lab and x‑ray technicians. The department averages 18 patients per day, opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 7 p.m. There is no overnight in‑person call requirement in Sparwood. Call duties are 1 in 6: the weekend shift is 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. and the weekday evening shift is 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. The Sparwood ED is supported by the High Acuity Response Team (HART) based out of Cranbrook, and the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARs) based out of Alberta can provide additional support within a 55‑minute flight time from Calgary.
