Role Description
What is a Deputy Sheriff?
Court Security Deputy Sheriffs are trained to respond to duress alarms, threats, assaults, emergency evacuations, and other situations that require security or medical attention.
Saskatchewan’s court security program is designed to deter malicious acts, anticipate and prevent potential harm, and detect danger, thereby ensuring a safe environment for both the public and court staff.
Prisoner transport duties balance the safety of prisoners, the public, staff, and deputy sheriffs while ensuring timely delivery between court and custodial facilities.
Qualifications
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- First Aid CPR AED certificate
- Valid driver’s license
- Certified criminal record check and fingerprinting
- Successfully pass the Sheriff Officer Physical Abilities Test (SOPAT)
- Full psychological assessment
- Defensive tactics and firearms qualifications to standard
