Overview
Physiotherapy Officers in the Canadian Forces assess, educate, and treat Forces members for a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. They develop comprehensive treatment plans that cover orthopaedic, cardio-respiratory, neuro-musculoskeletal, and sports physiotherapy issues, with the goal of returning members to active duty.
Responsibilities
- Assess injury and develop treatment plans for Forces members.
- Provide advice and guidance in worksite assessments, industrial ergonomics, injury prevention, health promotion, sports injury education, pre-deployment education, and reconditioning programs.
- Apply manual therapy, soft‑tissue techniques, and physical agents such as cold, heat, hydrotherapy, acupuncture, and electrotherapy.
- Use advanced equipment including isokinetic‑isotonic systems, treadmills, and computerized aerobic‑fitness devices.
