Role Description

Position Overview

Working within the Emergency team and the Mental Health Observation Unit, the Psychiatric Emergency Nurse provides mental health expertise in patient assessment, care planning, intervention and evaluation within the Emergency Department, the Mental Health Observation Unit and the Facility. Provides support and mental healthcare to emergency patients and families experiencing stress or crisis. The Psychiatric Emergency Nurse provides consultation and support to patients primarily assigned to an Emergency nurse.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years recent acute mental health experience required.
  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health experience.
  • Previous experience in an Emergency Department preferred.
  • Demonstrated competence in psychiatric assessment within a biopsychosocial framework, crisis intervention, therapeutic communication, co-occurring disorders and awareness of community resources available to cli...
