Role Description

PURPOSE:

The Respiratory Therapist is a front line care provider who monitors, evaluates, and treats patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary issues. Respiratory Therapists are a crucial member of the resuscitation team and they provide care to newborns, pediatric and adult patients throughout various units in the hospital 24 hours a day/365 days per year. As a member of this team you will be providing advance life support, establishing/ maintaining airway support, mechanical ventilation and performing all duties in accordance with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario professional standards and the Registered Health Professionals Act (RHPA).

DUTIES:

  • Perform diagnostic tests, such as arterial blood gas analysis and cardiopulmonary function tests.
