Residential Counsellor - Group Home

Education: College, CEGEP, or other non‑university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years, or equivalent experience.
Work setting: Group home.

Responsibilities

• Prepare reports or case histories.
• Perform administrative and office activities.
• Assess client’s relevant skill strengths and development needs.
• Perform housekeeping activities.
• Prepare food.
• Resolve conflict situations.
• Supervise activities of clients living in group homes and half‑way houses.
• Implement behaviour management programs.
• Assist clients/guests with special needs.
• Accompany clients to appointments and social outings.

Certifications and Licences

• Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Certificate.
• Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).
• Behaviour Management Certification.
• Non‑violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate.
