SWEEP Workplace Mentor (Yard Maintenance)

COMPETITION # SWEEP 26-036 POSITION TYPE TERM (16 Weeks), SUMMER, PART-TIME. The SWEEP program requires a mentor support staff to help supervise youth, assist the organization with its spring clean-up, summer planting, yard maintenance, dump runs, and various other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervises clients within the SWEEP work program.
• Ensure all customers are greeted in a professional and courteous manner.
• Basic gardening.
• Maintain health and safety standards in work areas.
• Teach youth how to safely use tools and equipment.
• Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes.
• Mow or edge lawns, using power mowers or edgers.
• Evaluates, records, and reports client progress as well as assess the personal and social development of each program participant.
