Technician

The Orthotic Technician will provide all technical aspects of the fabrication process necessary to produce custom orthoses for children and adults. He/she will consult and assist clinical members of the healthcare team using excellent current knowledge of the machinery, tools, techniques, raw materials, and components available for use in the design and fabrication of orthoses.

Responsibilities

• Provide production of positive plaster casts.
• Fabricate and prepare orthosis for fitting according to work orders prepared by clinicians.
• Perform high temperature thermoplastic vacuum forming and low temperature thermoplastic molding.
• Produce custom components such as leather straps and pads for spinal braces and lower extremity braces.
• Support and collaborate with clinical staff by sharing knowledge on design, material selection, and techniques for fabrication and fitting of each custom orthosis.
